Pattaya is Located in Thailand, South East Asia, Thailand shares borders with Loas to the north, Cambodia To the east, Myanmar to the west and Malaysia to the south.

Pattaya is about 120 km’s south of Bangkok Airport on the Eastern Sea board of the gulf of Thailand.

Pattaya is a seaside holiday destination for tourist around the world and is famous because of its reputation for easy cheap sex, partying and shopping. Although Pattaya has under gone an image change in recent years and now presents itself as a world class family holiday destination, nothing has really changed, Pattaya = Partytime.

Pattaya is about 150 km from the heart of Bangkok and about 120 KM from Suvarnabhumi Airport, and the journey from the airport takes about 2 hrs by bus or taxi,

What started out as a sleepy fishing village all started to change in the mid 1960’s, with the arrival of US military personnel on break from the Vietnam war, from there it has grown to one of the most popular tourist destinations in south east Asia, and is only growing in popularity as word spreads about what’s on offer in Pattaya. Tourist numbers are now exceeding 4 million a year

Pattaya’s popularity with tourist has seen a dramatic property boom and hundreds of new hotels and guesthouse have been built to capitalize on the rising numbers of visitors.

Pattaya City is part of Chonburi Provence and is only 10 km’s from Laem Chabang Port, Thailand’s Main shipping port, and is part of the reason why the shopping is so good in Pattaya, and why every new thing that comes to Thailand comes to Pattaya first.

Pattaya is surrounded by agricultural land with farms of all types which supplies the city with a constant supply of fresh food and with the abundance of land see’s many golf courses scattered across the country side that are very popular worldwide and is another draw card to this popular destination.

GETTING TO PATTAYA

TAXI

Catching a taxi from the airport is the best way to get to Pattaya, a licensed, metered Taxi, should cost you about 800 Baht to Pattaya, there are 3 -4 tolls along the way costing 20 Baht each and you should negotiate who pays the tolls before leaving, whether the Taxi pays or you pay, but since there is so little profit for the taxi, you should agree to pay as a sign of good will.  You can walk straight out of the airport terminal and hire a taxi that will take you to your room in Pattaya, as long as you know where your hotel is.

Ordering a non registered taxi to pick you up from the airport will cost from between 1000 – 1300 Baht, and there are many of these types of taxi services in Pattaya that offer this service that can be found with just a simple Google search.

MINI BUS

Mini are also available from the airport and is a good option if your traveling in a group with the cost for 1 -3 people around 1800 Baht and 3 – 8 people from between 1800 – 3000, depending on your negotiation skills.

LIMO SERVICE

A lot of hotels supply a limousine service to pick you up directly from the airport and take you to your hotel, this can be organised by hotel staff by informing them of your arrival times and dates, starting from a price of about 1500 baht and up.

BUS

Catching a bus to Pattaya is the cheapest option, there is a bus terminal in the lower levels of the airport where you can buy a ticket to Pattaya for about 123 Baht, buses leave hourly and and also takes about 2 hrs to arrive in Pattaya, the bus will drop you off anywhere along the bus route on the way to the bus terminal in Pattaya and its final destination will be Jomtien, south of Pattaya.

TRAIN

Catching the train to Pattaya will be very difficult and unpractical, it is not advised to catch the train to Pattaya, unless you have plenty of time to waste and is something you really want to do.

 

Pattaya provides a good, solid, all-round, fun, holiday experience and you owe it to yourself to come see it for yourself.
